The organization, under the supervision of the lieutenant, tests a light-payload prototype of a small, bullet-shaped apparatus designed to release a quickly spreading chemical agent. Organization personnel physically deposit the device down a valley for testing, while the lieutenant waits a safe distance away, Wendy holding his hand.
Before the organization personnel can also place themselves a safe distance away, the lieutenant activates the device by remote control. The chemical effects a terrible and cruel death upon everyone within reach, even the organization’s officer who was carrying out his orders efficiently.
The lieutenant smiles in satisfaction, and so does Wendy, her little six-year-old hand in his.
That’s it.
That’s the chapter.
It is not a short chapter. The author is very descriptive here, and the narrative takes place around Wendy, who we are told, has bite marks and bruises over her little body. We are taken, through her eyes, or her sensations, through the cold landscape that looms ahead, and through the preparations for the test as she sees them.
We are also reminded this is the area where the commander’s massacres. The land is also said to be under an evil spell. As if so much death and destruction had affected nature itself at a vibrational level, occult currents carrying information that changed the very essence of being.
Yet, we are given hints that this is only going to get worse. We are told, or at least given to understand, that the organization, under the commander, himself following his infernal imperative under the gaze of the commandant, plans on ruining the earth beyond repair, beyond the ability of nature to grow again and flourish.
Beyond the hollow rhetoric of your governments and the desperate and futile actions of your ONGs, does any of this sound familiar?
You cannot sleepwalk your way to a better world, for the name of the natural trend so far is entropy. Anyone who wants a different future must first become conscious, must then decide to do something about their life, and to then do something to direct and affect the coming of a rich and desirable future.
