An unusually short chapter that seems to be inserted to give us information about progress in the plot, the author tells us that the scouting team tasked with following escaped “syndicate” members (some other group opposing the organization) were able to acquire more information regarding the location and state of the rebels.
The information is transmitted in coded form as a matter of protocol, whatever the possibility of their messages being intercepted and understood at all, or whatever the capability of the enemy to do anything about it. The idea is always to be twice or thrice prepared. Overkill is the name of the game for the organization.
A lot of information on the organization seems to be given to suggest that they are a highly professional and ruthless outfit and that it is by dint of this professionalism and this ruthlessness that they are bound to win. This is the material aspect of total domination. Nothing short of this will do.
All other elements of human life and culture and life within the organization are bent towards victory, blood-stained and uncaring. While we may see the picture painted here as alien to our own society, this is only true on the surface, because of the smart euphemisms and guards that have been set in place so that you live a fantasy.
In truth, our world, as has been set up, works exactly this way, at least for the majority, at least for those operating from the animal brain alone, which is unavoidably the vast majority, even those who purport to be victims and who demand to be given rights.
One looks at what each group wants to do to the other, at what the average person is capable of being programmed to do, with righteousness, religious or secular, as an excuse, and you must wonder, do they really deserve better?
Let each person redeem themselves, let each person prove themselves to be better than its survival instincts and capricious demands.
